By road
- E40 highway to Ostend.
- By train: regular trains (every half hour) between the airport and the railway stations of Brussels North or Brussels Central, from there several trains per hour to Bruges.
- The airport of Charleroi is at approximately 1h30.

- National Airport Zaventem(Brussels) is an important hub in international air traffic and is situated about 120 km from Bruges and is easily reached via the E40
- A regular train service (every half hour) connects the airport to Brussels Central Station or Brussels North, from where several trains per hour to leave to Bruges
- At about 140 km from Bruges, you have the smaller airport Charleroi. From Brussels there is an easy shuttle service to the airport of Charleroi
By ship
- Via Zeebrugge P&O Ferries: Daily services between Zeebrugge (B) - Hull (UK). Night crossing, approximately 14 hrs
- Calais (F) - Dover (UK) with Seafranceor P&O Ferries
